Want to get started?  Begin scheduling a consultation

Behavior consultation is different than training or obedience class.  Behavior consultations teach you and your pet a behavior modification approach for  problems that include a fear, anxiety or aggression component.  Emotional problems in animals take special explanation and a different approach to treatment than “learned bad behaviors”.   Since your pet isn’t currently keeping their emotional responses under control, we focus on helping them have different emotional responses and learn new coping strategies.  When your pet feels better, they will act better!

Emotional problems in dogs can look like:

  • Barking, growling, snapping, lunging or biting directed at people or other animals
  • Barking, destruction, urination or defecation when left alone
  • Marking, urinating or defecating in undesired areas
  • Changes in vocalization, eating, and sleeping habits
  • Barking  or reactivity to noises
  • Whining, barking, pacing or other signs of stress when in vehicles or new places
  • Fear when in contact with people, other animals or novel stimuli
  • Difficulty adjusting to change (new family members, moving etc.)

Emotional problems in cats can look like:

  • Hissing, scratching or biting directed at people or other animals
  • Vocalization, destruction, urination or defecation when left alone
  • Undesired changes in litter habits
  • Difficulty being handled or bonding with you
  • Fear when in contact with people, other animals or novel stimuli
  • Difficulty adjusting to change (new family members, moving etc.

We keep the whole pet and the whole family in mind as we create a behavior plan that works for everyone.
